Privacy policy
The short version: no accounts, no selling data, nothing collected that the product doesn't need.

What we don't do
- No accounts, registration, or profiles — for the website or the apps.
- We do not sell, rent, or share personal information for money or cross-context behavioral advertising.
- We do not collect names, emails, or contact details anywhere in the product.
- Search queries on the records index are processed to answer the request and for short-term abuse prevention (rate limiting); they are not tied to an identity profile.
Website
nativepast.com is served by Cloudflare, which processes IP addresses and request metadata to deliver and protect the site (DDoS protection, caching). Standard server logs (IP, user agent, timestamp) are kept briefly for security and debugging. The site sets no tracking cookies of its own.
Advertising (when present). We may show a single banner ad via Google AdSense to offset hosting costs. Where required (EEA/UK), a consent prompt appears before any advertising cookies are used, and non-personalized ads are shown absent consent. You can change your choice any time via the consent link in the footer.
Apps
- Content is offline. History and language content ships inside the app; reading and lessons work without any network connection.
- Progress stays on your device (and your platform's standard backup, e.g. iCloud device backup, which we don't operate).
- Advertising. The free apps show ads via Google AdMob. On iOS, ads are personalized only if you allow tracking in the App Tracking Transparency prompt; on Android, you can opt out of personalization in system ad settings. Ad networks process a device advertising identifier and coarse signals to serve and measure ads.
- Purchases. The optional Pro subscription is processed entirely by Apple/Google; we never see your payment details.
The records index
The searchable index contains historical records of people enrolled or applying for enrollment 1898–1914, drawn from U.S. public-domain federal records held by the National Archives. It contains no information about living persons collected by us.
Children
The products are general-audience educational tools and do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
